I heard the US added new tariffs recently. Did the EU respond with reciprocal tariffs or anything like that?

Yeah, the EU actually did respond. On March 12, 2025, they announced countermeasures hitting around €26 billion worth of U.S. goods. They’ve reinstated suspended tariffs on products like bourbon, jeans, and Harley-Davidsons (classic move), and they’re also planning new tariffs on more U.S. exports — stuff like agricultural goods, industrial products, and household items by mid-April.
It’s basically a direct clapback to the U.S. slapping more tariffs on steel and aluminum, which the EU sees as totally unjustified.
Whole situation’s heating up again — classic trade tension playbook. Global markets are watching nervously, and there’s already talk about supply chain hits and inflation risks.
